Saddened to hear of Tony Bennett’s passing… I

Saddened to hear of Tony Bennett’s passing… I met Tony in the early 90’s when I was living in New Orleans working for photographer @hermanleonardphotography Tony was giving a concert at the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans so Herman and I spent the day before printing photos of Tony that Herman had taken at least 40 years earlier. We were bringing them to give to Tony, this was going to be a reunion of sorts as they hadn’t seen each other in ages. Then Herman got sick and couldn’t make it, insisting I go anyway. It was an amazing concert! The Orpheum is one of those old theaters that is red velvet and columns, where the ceiling looks like the night sky complete with twinkling stars. During the concert Tony talked about how he loved these old theaters because of the acoustics. He shut his mic off and started singing a cappella. The strength of his voice was incredible! Afterwards I went backstage to give him the photos and he was so excited to see them saying, “Look at this kid! Ah, Herman! Man, we were just kids back then, running around the Village!” He then started telling me stories about the 2 of them. He was so warm and gracious with his time, making me feel it was just the two of us talking, as if I was his old friend too. I was supposed to give him all the photos, but I couldn’t resist, I asked him if he would sign this one for me… he’s so handsome in this one and he said only if I promised to print another one to send him and I did.

Rest in peace Tony, I know Herman was there to welcome you with open arms and laughs of delight for his dear old friend. 🥹😇❤️

I was showing my sweater to my sister via the last

I was showing my sweater to my sister via the last photo I posted when I got that “oh 🤬” kind of feeling. I could see in the photo what I hadn’t noticed as I was winging it… my designs were off by one stitch 😖 Ugh! I could have left it but it would have really bothered me and I’m a firm believer in, “when in doubt rip it out”. Fortunately I had that color change so I unraveled the first row after the black band, shifted over one stitch to the right and grafted it back together. My work table 😵‍💫😜 Found this sweater at the thrift awhile back and have wanted to make another one, it’s such a great sweater! I’m trying to replicate it with yarn from the fleece of my Icelandics that I had processed by @soundviewfiber.
